FAMILY OFFICE CFO / CONTROLLER - with Multifamily Real Estate experience

Duties
- Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Oversee all accounting functions and produce accurate, timely financial statements for the portfolio and its partners
- Manage intercompany reporting, including loans, mortgages, and transactions between related entities
- Maintain general ledger integrity across multiple entities and ownership structures
- Coordinate year-end close and support external accountants and auditors Tax Planning & Efficiency
- Develop and implement tax-efficient structures across the real estate portfolio
- Partner with external tax advisors on entity structuring, depreciation strategies, cost segregation, and 1031 exchanges
- Monitor and manage tax obligations across multiple jurisdictions
Acquisitions, Closings & Financing
- Manage financial due diligence and coordinate with attorneys, lenders, and title companies on real estate closings
- Oversee intercompany loan structures and mortgage documentation
- Support refinancing, capital raises, and debt management activities
Insurance Management
- Evaluate existing property and liability insurance coverage across the portfolio
- Solicit bids from brokers, analyze proposals, and recommend appropriate coverage
- Manage renewals, claims coordination, and ongoing policy compliance
Financial Projections & Strategic Planning
- Build and maintain financial models, cash flow projections, and portfolio-level forecasts
- Provide strategic financial analysis to guide ownership decisions on acquisitions, dispositions, and capital improvements
- Present financial performance and planning summaries to ownership and partners
Affordable Housing & Subsidy Programs
- Understand and manage financial compliance requirements for affordable housing properties within the portfolio
- Monitor subsidy programs including HUD, Section 8, LIHTC, and other applicable programs
- Coordinate with property managers and compliance staff to ensure financial eligibility and reporting requirements are met
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA and/or MBA designation a MUST
- Minimum 8–10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with meaningful exposure to real estate
- Deep understanding of multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, and real estate financial structures
- Strong proficiency in accounting software (Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, or similar) and Excel
Preferred
- CPA and MBA (both)
- Prior experience in a family office or owner-operated real estate environment
- Experience supporting real estate closings and working with lenders, attorneys, and title companies
- Familiarity with 1031 exchanges, cost segregation, and real estate tax structuring
