Homeie is building the friend everyone wishes they had while renting.
Finding a home in India is weirdly chaotic. You call five brokers, see ten bad homes, get spammed, negotiate in the dark, chase paperwork, and spend weeks figuring out a market you barely understand.
We think this should feel completely different.
A renter tells Homeie what they want. Homeie understands them, coordinates with the market, finds the right homes, organises visits, learns from their feedback, and eventually helps close the home in one afternoon instead of three weeks.
The first product is a magical renting experience. The larger company is the membership layer around living in a neighbourhood.
In simple terms: we want to make renting more fun, more aspirational, way less miserable, and build a consumer company people genuinely love.
What will you do:
- Figure out how we get our first few hundred renters. Reddit, offices, partnerships, classifieds, referrals, going on the ground, weird hacks nobody has tried. Whatever works.
- Make the marketplace actually work.
- Figure out which supply pool matters, how we should work with them, what incentives make sense, and how we consistently get great homes when a renter shows up.
- Run experiments constantly across demand, supply, pricing, referrals, visits, corporate partnerships and new neighbourhoods. Keep what works, kill what doesn’t.
- Work very closely on figuring out the operating model for Homeie: what people should do, what software should do, and what should eventually happen automatically.
- Work with engineering and product to turn things we repeatedly do manually into software.
- Figure out how we win one small part of Gurgaon, then turn that into the playbook for the next 50 markets.
Who we're looking for:
I don’t care too much about pedigree. You could be 21 and have never had a proper job; you could have spent two years at Bain; you could have tried building a company, worked at an early-stage startup, or done something completely unrelated.
You should enjoy messy problems. A lot of things here will not have an obvious answer yet.
You should also be happy doing the work yourself. Some days that might mean thinking through how Homeie enters Bangalore. Other days, it might mean going society to society and figuring out how to somehow “arrange” a list of every broker who works there.
If that sounds exhausting rather than fun, this probably isn't the right place.
About me:
I was previously LAT Aerospace’s first hire, working with Deepinder Goyal after his viral “pay me ₹20 lakhs” hiring post. I joined before LAT had a clear operating shape, helped build the early team, and worked across product, suppliers, testing, hiring, real estate and ops.
Before that, when I was 14, my dad passed away and I took over his textile import-export business while still in school. I ran it profitably for three years before shutting it down right before Covid.
The common thread is that I’ve repeatedly walked into industries I didn’t really belong in, learned from the ground up, and figured things out by doing the work.
Homeie is that kind of problem again: huge, messy, offline, full of broken incentives, and still waiting for someone to build the consumer experience properly.
If this sounds like your kind of thing, I’d love to talk.
