Chief Financial Officer – Specialty Contractor (Tampa, FL)

Our client is a mid-size specialty contractor based in Tampa, FL, specializing in site construction and road building/infrastructure work. Now second-generation family led, the company has seen strong, steady revenue growth over the past several years and continues to project significant growth in the years ahead. The business also operates a subsidiary entity. This is a thriving, fast-paced environment with a strong, hardworking culture.
This search is being conducted to identify a strategic CFO who can support the company's continued growth and help elevate the finance function.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will oversee the finance, accounting, IT, and HR functions of the business. This is a true number-two leadership position, with the finance function currently sitting as its own tier directly under the CEO. The CFO will lead a team of 5+.
Key Responsibilities and Priorities
- Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team, not solely a back-office finance lead
- Oversee financial reporting, closing processes, and the annual audit
- Evaluate and lead an ERP transition
- Bring an innovation-minded approach to finance, including openness to leveraging AI and technology to modernize processes
- Support the company's continued growth trajectory, including possible future M&A activity
- Manage and develop the existing finance team
Candidate Profile
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Construction industry accounting experience required
- Experience with private companies preferred; open to public company backgrounds as well
- CPA preferred
- Experience with an ERP transition or implementation is a strong plus
- Strong Excel skills expected
- A confident, hands-on leader who can navigate a hardworking, in-office culture
