Our client is seeking an experienced, hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the company’s accounting and finance organization and serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and Board of Directors.
This is a high-impact leadership opportunity with a family office-backed, multi-division retail marketing services platform that has grown through the acquisition of several companies serving major national brands and retailers. The CFO will play a critical role in strengthening the company’s financial infrastructure, standardizing processes and reporting across divisions, and providing the financial insight needed to support continued growth and value creation.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical accounting foundation, experience managing complex multi-entity organizations, and the ability to move comfortably between hands-on financial leadership and high-level strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Leadership
- Lead all accounting and finance functions, including general ledger, month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, tax, treasury, and audit.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, procedures, and corporate governance.
- Lead the annual audit and manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and other external partners.
- Oversee cash management, treasury activities, lender reporting, and a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast.
- Manage financial consolidation across multiple operating divisions and legal entities, including intercompany accounting and eliminations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local financial, tax, payroll, and regulatory requirements.
- Improve close processes, reporting timelines, financial accuracy, and overall accounting efficiency.
- Establish consistent financial standards and reporting practices across the organization.
Financial Strategy & Business Partnership
- Partner with the CEO and executive leadership team on financial strategy, growth initiatives, profitability, and long-term enterprise value creation.
- Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, financial modeling, and long-range planning.
- Provide actionable financial analysis and performance metrics to support business decisions.
- Monitor profitability, working capital, cash flow, and operational KPIs while identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Drive greater visibility into client-level and service-line profitability, pricing discipline, and budget accountability across divisions.
- Evaluate capital investments and other strategic initiatives from a financial perspective.
- Support M&A activities, including financial due diligence, valuation, integration planning, and post-acquisition financial oversight.
- Prepare financial presentations, reporting, and analysis for the Board of Directors.
Leadership & Organizational Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Accounting and Finance organization with a strong culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Build organizational depth through delegation, cross-training, and documented processes.
- Provide executive oversight of Payroll, Legal, and HR Compliance functions.
- Partner with division leaders to drive adoption of consistent processes, standards, and financial reporting.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Sales, HR, IT, and other functional leaders to align financial priorities with business objectives.
- Champion financial systems improvements, ERP optimization, and automation initiatives, including continued enhancement of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Power BI, and Salesforce reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; MBA is a plus.
- 15+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience, including experience as a CFO, Controller, VP of Finance, or Corporate Controller.
- Strong technical accounting expertise with a deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, audits, and corporate compliance.
- Demonstrated experience leading accounting and finance organizations through growth, process improvement, integration, or organizational transformation.
- Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, treasury, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
- Experience with leveraged capital structures, credit agreements, lender relationships, and compliance reporting.
- Private equity-backed or sponsor-backed experience strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting M&A and integrating acquired companies is highly desirable.
- Strong ERP and financial systems experience, including implementation or optimization of accounting and reporting processes.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and executive presentation skills.
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with a hands-on approach to accounting and financial operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation.
- Private equity-backed or family office-backed company experience.
- ERP implementation or financial systems transformation experience.
- Experience building accounting infrastructure to support rapid growth and multiple business units.
- Experience managing complex, multi-entity consolidations and post-acquisition integrations.
