Founded in 1943, Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) has grown to be the largest provider of licensed outpatient community mental health services and one of the largest human service agencies in Westchester County. WJCS provides state-of-the-art programs and services and compassionate care to more than 20,000 people of all ages and backgrounds throughout Westchester.

THE OPPORTUNITY:
Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) seeks a dynamic, hands-on, and collaborative Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead its financial strategy and operations. Reporting to the CEO and serving as a key member of the executive leadership team, the CFO will oversee financial planning, reporting, compliance, and the continued evolution of a complex finance function. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with program leaders, the executive team, the Board of Directors, and external partners to strengthen financial operations, advance strategic initiatives, and align financial strategies with WJCS’s mission.
The CFO will oversee a finance organization consisting of 16 internal team members supported by a significant outsourced finance partnership (currently RSM), which provides accounting, FP&A, payroll, grants administration, IT support, and offshore resources. The CFO will be responsible for leading this blended operating model by fostering strong collaboration, establishing clear accountability across internal and external teams, and evaluating the appropriate long-term balance between insourced and outsourced functions. The successful candidate will also advance systems optimization, automation, and process improvement initiatives to strengthen the organization's financial infrastructure and support continued growth.
ROLES + RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal, regulatory, and administrative function and performance.
- Manage the agency’s overall budget of approximately $70M, along with its $7M affiliate, Family Service Society of Yonkers, developing accurate forecasts, business plans, and strategies to foster long-term financial sustainability and growth.
- Oversee and ensure effective management of cash flow, addressing the challenges of timely funding from city and state agencies
- Create and maintain a culture of trust and integrity and demonstrate a high standard of adherence to the Westchester Jewish Community Services’ values.
- Evaluate and manage the finance and accounting structure, including both internal staff and outsourced service providers, and determine the appropriate long-term balance between internal and external capabilities.
- Establish clear ownership, shared accountability, and effective communication across internal finance teams and external partners and consultants, while setting performance expectations and supporting the professional growth of internal team members.
- Lead the continued modernization of the finance function by advancing systems optimization, automation, process redesign, and improved use of financial data across budgeting, grants management, reporting, expense management, and financial close.
- Partner with executive leadership and external advisors to manage complex strategic finance initiatives, including the future financial and systems integration of Family Service Society of Yonkers
The annual salary range is up to $260,000, plus benefits.

- Departmental Stabilization: Assess and strengthen the finance operating model, with particular focus on stabilizing the controller function, clarifying responsibilities between internal and outsourced teams, improving communication and accountability across workstreams, and ensuring smooth and efficient operations in finance, planning, reporting, and compliance.
- Finance Transformation & Automation: Advance WJCS’s finance modernization roadmap by optimizing existing systems, reducing manual processes, improving data quality and coding, expanding automation, and strengthening the use of Sage Intacct and other financial tools to support timely and accurate reporting.
- Outsourced Partnership Leadership: Build a strong working partnership with RSM and other external advisors through clear communication, shared accountability, defined responsibilities, and proactive management of deliverables, deadlines, and strategic initiatives.
