CFO – PE-Backed Business Services Group

We are exclusively retained by a high-growth, PE-backed business services group that is entering a major phase of its growth journey.
The business has delivered 25% year-on-year growth for each of the last three years and is now embarking on an ambitious buy-and-build strategy, with multiple acquisitions planned.
We are looking for a proven CFO who has successfully taken a PE-backed buy-and-build business through its growth journey and ultimately to market/exit.
This is a critical hire for the group and an opportunity to play a central role in creating significant shareholder value.
The Opportunity
This is not a traditional finance leadership role:
The CFO will work closely with the CEO, management team and PE investor to drive the next phase of the group's expansion, execute the buy-and-build strategy and ultimately position the business for a successful exit.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the group's M&A and buy-and-build strategy
- Identifying, evaluating and executing acquisitions
- Leading the integration of acquired businesses
- Building a scalable, high-performing finance function
- Driving financial and operational performance
- Working closely with the PE investor and Board
- Leading the business through its next phase of value creation
- Preparing the group for future exit / sale
- Supporting the business through the full investment lifecycle
The Profile
We are specifically looking for a proven CFO, rather than a high-potential Finance Director stepping up for the first time.
You will ideally have:
- A demonstrable track record as a CFO within a PE-backed environment
- Proven experience leading a buy-and-build strategy
- Experience taking a PE-backed business through significant growth and ultimately to market / exit
- A strong track record of executing and integrating acquisitions
- Experience working directly with PE investors and Boards
- Strong commercial and strategic finance capability
- Ideally, experience within Business Services
- The credibility and gravitas to operate as a genuine partner to the CEO and investment team
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who has been through the journey before — someone who understands what it takes to take a PE-backed business from acquisition, through accelerated growth and buy-and-build, to a successful exit.
Package
£200,000 Base Salary + Bonus + Sweet Equity
The equity element provides the successful CFO with the opportunity to participate directly in the value they help create.
