Private Equity-Backed | UK-Wide Buy-and-Build
We are advising an ambitious private equity-backed group on the appointment of a Chief Financial Officer.
Following a period of sustained acquisition activity, the business is pursuing a UK-wide buy-and-build strategy. The incoming CFO will work in close partnership with the CEO, board and investor to shape the group’s next phase of development, lead further M&A and establish the financial platform required to support its ambitions.
This is a broad and influential appointment, combining strategic leadership with a clear focus on execution. The CFO will bring greater visibility to performance, strengthen commercial decision-making and play a central role in creating an integrated, high-performing group.
The Role
The CFO will:
- Act as a strategic partner to the CEO, board and investor
- Help shape and deliver the group’s value-creation plan
- Lead the financial assessment, execution and integration of acquisitions
- Establish a disciplined and repeatable approach to post-deal integration
- Enhance the quality of reporting, forecasting and commercial insight
- Maintain oversight of cash, working capital, funding and lender relationships
- Develop the finance function, systems and controls to support continued growth
- Create greater consistency and visibility across the group
- Build and lead a high-calibre finance team
The Candidate
We are looking for a commercially astute finance leader who combines strategic judgement with a willingness to remain close to the detail.
Candidates will bring:
- Experience within a private equity-backed organisation
- A strong track record across M&A and post-acquisition integration
- Exposure to an active buy-and-build strategy
- A clear understanding of value creation in an investor-led environment
- Confidence managing debt, cash and lender relationships
- The credibility to influence at board level and partner effectively with operational leadership
- The ability to move comfortably between strategic priorities and hands-on execution
- A pragmatic, decisive and commercially focused leadership style
The successful candidate may already be operating as a CFO or could be an exceptional Finance Director ready to step into a first number-one appointment.
Experience within an outsourced, professional, people-led or multi-site organisation would be beneficial. However, precise sector experience is less important than the quality and relevance of the candidate’s track record.
The role will require a meaningful presence alongside the management team, together with travel across the UK as the group continues to grow.
