ANSTO (the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation) is seeking an exceptional Chief Financial Officer to join its Executive Committee and help lead one of Australia’s most distinctive and complex organisations.
ANSTO combines nuclear medicine manufacturing, critical national infrastructure, scientific research and commercial operations within a highly regulated Commonwealth environment. It employs approximately 1,500 people and manages an asset base of more than $2 billion.
The CFO will provide enterprise-wide financial and commercial leadership across a technically complex, capital-intensive operating environment.
We are particularly interested in executives who have operated close to the physical delivery of complex products, assets or infrastructure. Experience in science, manufacturing, industrial operations, healthcare production, infrastructure, energy, defence or similarly regulated environments would be highly relevant.
You will bring:
- Substantial CFO or senior finance leadership experience in a large and complex organisation;
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance financial discipline with operational priorities;
- Experience in science, manufacturing, capital-intensive or asset-intensive operating environments;
- Sophisticated governance, risk and stakeholder-management capability;
- An understanding of government accountability and stakeholder environments, ideally including Commonwealth exposure;
- The ability to lead, influence and collaborate as an enterprise executive, rather than simply as a functional finance leader.
The environment combines approximately $550 million in annual expenditure, $20 billion in assets, significant capital investment and both government and commercial income.
The successful candidate will be commercially astute, operationally engaged and able to operate effectively across manufacturing, science, government and highly regulated environments.
The role is based at Lucas Heights, NSW. The position requires Australian Citizenship, ANSTO security and medical clearance.
