The role:
This role is for a dynamic and visionary Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will work as part of our Senior Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in driving the financial strategy of our rapidly scaling creative events business. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will oversee the entire finance function, including cash flow management, financial planning, forecasting, credit control, commercial finance, budgeting, accounts receivable and payable, as well as international compliance. Beyond the day-to-day financial operations, you will be responsible for analysing our financial strengths and weaknesses and proposing innovative, actionable solutions to propel the business forward.
To be successful in this role you will have demonstrable expertise in financial leadership, international compliance and tax knowledge, stakeholder management/ communication and strong operational agility. You will be used to working an environment where you present succinct and accurate budgets and monthly financials into the board and leaders. What you will do:
International Tax Compliance:
Hold ultimate accountability for international tax regulations and oversee the company's tax planning and reporting activities.
Liaise with external tax advisors to optimise tax strategies and manage tax risks associated with international operations.
Financial and Commercial Strategy:
Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute high stakes decisions towards the company's financial and commercial strategy.
Identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost optimisation, and operational efficiency.
Provide strategic guidance and financial analysis for new business initiatives, product launches, and market expansions.
Merger and Acquisition (M&A) Activities:

Lead financial due diligence for acquisitions and strategic partnerships, ensuring robust assessment of financial health and long-term value.
- Evaluate financial viability, conduct financial modelling, and assess risks and opportunities to support informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with legal and business development teams to structure and negotiate M&A deals, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy.
- Oversee financial integration planning and execution post-acquisition, ensuring a smooth transition and value realisation.
- Monitor post-merger performance, identifying synergies, optimising financial structures, and mitigating risks.
Financial Management:
Own financial strategies to drive business growth and profitability.
Prepare and present accurate financial reports, including management accounts, budget analysis, and forecasts, to the executive team and board of directors.
Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and payroll.
Digital Transformation:

Drive digital transformation initiatives within the finance function, leveraging technology to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement to streamline financial operations.
Team Management:
Regular 1-1’s and appraisals with all direct reports.
Lead, manage and develop the internal finance team including a Financial Controller, Management Accountant and 3 x Finance Assistants
What you will need:
Proven experience in finance with at least 4 years in senior financial leadership roles. Ideally within a start up/ scale up or the events exhibition/ conference industry or a related sector.
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. MBA or full professional certifications (e.g. CIMA/ ACCA) are essential.
Strong knowledge of financial management principles, practices, and accounting standards.
Advanced Microsoft/ Google Workspace skills as well as comprehensive knowledge of financial/ accounting systems.
In-depth understanding of international tax compliance and regulations.
Experience in driving digital transformation initiatives within the finance function.
Demonstrable expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
Proven track record of successfully leading M&A activities, including due diligence and integration processes.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organisation.
Strong strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.
Strong understanding of international finance including VAT/GST practice on an international level as well as transfer pricing.
A strategic thinker with experience of engaging/managing multiple key stakeholders at varied business levels.
A passionate self-starter with excellent leadership, communication skills and attention to detail; alongside being highly organised to run multiple projects at once.

Position Type: Permanent, with a 4-day working week. Our hybrid model includes 3 days in the office (located in Shepherd's Bush), 1 day working from home, and every Friday as a non-working day as standard.
