Bilingual In‐Person Sales & Operations Coordinator (French/English)
Overview
Our canoe shop is seeking a hands‐on specialist to oversee all on‐site responsibilities, from in‐store sales to preparing canoes for pickup and shipping. This role requires bilingual proficiency in French and English, strong customer service skills, and the ability to manage physical tasks like loading/unloading canoes and organizing inventory.
Key Responsibilities
1. In‐Store Sales & Customer Service
- Greet & Assist Walk‐In Customers: Answer product questions, demonstrate canoe features, and provide recommendations.
- Process Payments: Take deposits and final payments using our POS or Shopify link.
- Upsell & Promotions: Suggest related items (e.g., paddles, life jackets, accessories) to maximize sales.
- Hand Off Merchandise: Finalize transactions and physically hand over items to customers.
2. Fulfillment & Shipping Support
- Canoe Prep for Shipping: Safely wrap and secure canoes for transport; meet shippers at the warehouse to ensure proper handling.
- Canoe Prep for Pickup: Assist customers picking up canoes on‐site, including final payment processing and basic outfitting help (racks/straps).
- Other SKUs & Small Items: Print labels, pack items, and drop off shipments at the local post office (or coordinate pickups for larger volumes).
3. Receiving & Inventory Management
- Incoming Canoes: Unload, inspect, and organize incoming canoes in the shop; space is limited, so careful planning and stacking is required.
- Additional Products (SKUs): Organize and account for incoming paddles, life jackets, and accessories.
- Process Returns: Inspect returned merchandise, process refunds or exchanges, and update inventory records accordingly.
4. Shop Maintenance & Tidy‐Up
- Clean & Tidy Shelves: Maintain a clean sales floor and well‐organized backroom or warehouse area.
- Ongoing Inventory Checks: Periodically verify stock levels and ensure items are correctly labeled and displayed.
- Canoe Outfitting (Optional): Some outfitting can be outsourced, but the role may require light customization or installation of accessories.
Qualifications
- Bilingual: Fluent in French and English (verbal communication required for in‐person sales).
- Retail or Customer Service Experience: Proven ability to connect with customers, close sales, and handle POS transactions.
- Physical Fitness: Comfortable lifting and maneuvering canoes (with assistance); able to stand for extended periods.
- Organizational Skills: Capable of effectively managing limited storage space, tracking inventory, and completing tasks on schedule.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring accurate labeling, packing, and receiving of merchandise.
Additional Details
- Location: On‐site at our canoe shop and local warehouse.
- Hours: Part‐time position with the possibility of weekend or evening shifts during peak seasons.
- Compensation: Competitive hourly wage or salary, with potential for a performance‐based bonus.
- Local Canoe Delivery: Not required, but familiarity with loading canoes onto vehicles is essential for customer pickups.
