One of the leading independent Consulting companies in the UK are looking to hire a CFO/FD.
CFO/FD role
The CFO/FD will be primarily responsible for supporting the delivery of the business plan and overseeing the financial, commercial and operational aspects of the Business.
Amongst other duties, specific responsibilities will include:
- Financial strategy: Provide strategic input to the CEO and Board on financial and commercial matters. Lead the financial strategy and planning across the organisation. Develop and execute a financial strategy that aligns with the overall goals of the company and supports its growth and profitability objectives.
- Value creation: Drive commercial analysis of client profitability, service line performance, and market opportunities to optimise pricing, margins, and resource allocation. Partner with client services, account management, and operations teams to optimise pricing, contract profitability, and working capital management.
- Financial reporting and budgeting: Ensure timely, accurate and insightful financial reporting to stakeholders, including investors, lenders, and management. This includes monthly financial statements, budgets, forecasts, comprehensive KPIs, and other financial reports to monitor and analyse the performance of the Business. Evolve the business reporting to meet the requirements of a future exit.
- Risk management: Maintain strong risk management, compliance, and governance frameworks in line with UK corporate and financial regulations.
- Broader corporate finance and capital structure: Manage the Company's capital structure, including any potential debt refinancing and/or broader capital raising activities.
- Treasury management: Manage the Company's liquidity and cash flow, including cash forecasting and covenant compliance management.
- Team and systems development: Recruit, develop (as required) and lead a high-performing finance team. Implement scalable financial systems, processes, and controls to support growth across multiple geographies, service lines, and clients.
- Stakeholder management: Manage relationships with, banks/lenders, auditors, and other key financial and broader stakeholders.
- M&A: Lead all aspects of bolt-on acquisitions, including diligence, structuring, and integration.
Candidate Experience
- Services-based experience: Previously CFO (or divisional CFO) within a service-based, people-led business.
- Value creation experience: Proven ability to scale a business over a 3–5 year horizon, delivering commercial and operational improvements.
- Cultural fit: Commercial, forward-thinking, entrepreneurial, and a problem solver
- Other:
- ACA or equivalent qualification, understanding of UK company law, and a University Degree.
