A privately held real estate investment and development firm with a diversified portfolio across retail, multifamily, mixed-use, and land investments is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join its executive leadership team.
The firm has established a strong track record of acquiring, developing, and managing commercial real estate assets through disciplined underwriting, active asset management, and long-term value creation strategies.
Position Overview
The CFO will be responsible for leading the firm's financial operations, capital strategy, investor reporting, and accounting functions. Reporting directly to ownership, this individual will play a key role in supporting acquisitions, development projects, portfolio management, and strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting, finance, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, tax, and audit functions.
- Develop and execute financial strategies to support acquisitions, developments, refinancing, and portfolio growth.
- Oversee financial reporting across multiple entities, partnerships, and investment structures.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity planning, and capital allocation across active investments and development projects.
- Maintain relationships with lenders, banking partners, investors, and external advisors.
- Lead acquisition underwriting support, financial due diligence, valuation analysis, and disposition activities.
- Oversee quarterly and annual investor reporting.
- Implement and strengthen financial controls, processes, and reporting systems.
- Build, mentor, and lead the accounting and finance team.
- Partner with executive leadership to support strategic decision-making and business planning.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline.
- CPA, CFA, or CMA preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
- Prior experience within real estate private equity, commercial real estate investment, development, or related sectors.
- Strong understanding of partnership accounting, financial reporting, capital structures, and real estate investment vehicles.
- Experience managing lender relationships, debt facilities, refinancing, and capital markets activities.
- Advanced financial modeling and analytical capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage investors, lenders, and executive stakeholders.
