Role Description The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in the Houston, TX area, responsible for overseeing all financial operations of Huffman ISD. The CFO manages budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning to support district goals and instructional priorities. Daily responsibilities include supervising the preparation and review of financial statements, monitoring cash flow, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, and managing payroll and purchasing functions. The role also includes coordinating financial reporting to the superintendent and school board, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and leading internal controls and audit activities. The CFO collaborates closely with district leadership and campus administrators to provide clear financial guidance, optimize resource allocation, and support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Finance, including experience managing complex budgets and multi-year financial plans.
- Proficiency in Financial Planning and Financial Reporting to support strategic initiatives and regulatory compliance.
- Experience preparing, analyzing, and interpreting Financial Statements for internal and external stakeholders.
- Advanced Analytical Skills to evaluate financial performance, identify trends, and recommend data-driven solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred.
- Knowledge of public sector or K–12 school finance, including state funding formulas and applicable regulations, is highly beneficial.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing finance teams and working collaboratively with executive leadership and governing boards.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear, accessible manner.
