In under a decade, our client has evolved from a startup VC fund into a major player—participating in five successful IPOs and growing to over $5B in fair market value. They are now seeking their first in-house CFO to partner with the leadership team and drive the next phase of expansion.
What You'll Do
- Own all financial aspects of the organization from FP&A through Management Company Financials, Strategic Finance, etc. Leverage these functions to build and manage a long-term plan for the business capable of enabling continued growth at scale.
- Develop, maintain, and utilize the appropriate financial systems, tools, and resources required to support all of the financial planning, management, and reporting needs of the business.
- Collaborate with outsourced accounting/finance support to maintain a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate operational risk.
- Manage fund and SPV formation.
- Analyze fund capital requirements and manage capital calls across all vehicles.
- Oversee structuring and execution of investments and divestitures in the US and overseas, fund formation, and portfolio company management.
- Lead the Firm’s monthly portfolio valuation process.
- Work with portfolio companies to holistically analyze finance and accounting operating performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Be a key, objective source of advice and counsel as the executive team makes both big and small decisions and communicate risks and issues as they arise, along with recommendations on how to improve them.
What We Look For
- CFO experience in Venture Capital (or a strong #2 ready to step up into the top job)
- Experience with investor reporting, including quarterly financial reporting, investor presentations, and communications to limited partners
- Fundraising experience is a big plus
- Relentless intellectual curiosity about how things work, from strategy to details. A doer, quick to roll up sleeves and become involved in the details of the business
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
- Experience giving financial presentations to a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including investors
- Ability to represent the firm and it’s Partners in Investor meetings
- Deep understanding of relevant KPIs (e.g. ARR, LTV, CAC, Recurring vs. Non-Recurring revenue, etc.)
