MHCS, a full-service public accounting firm located in West Des Moines, IA, seeks a talented and experienced Chief Financial Officer to join our Client Accounting Services department. This individual will be launching and growing our CFO service line, while delivering strategic guidance, financial planning, and in-depth analysis to a diverse portfolio of clients.
Our client accounting services team supports businesses with annual revenues ranging from $1 million to $50 million across a wide variety of industries, including but not limited to real estate, construction, and healthcare. In this role, you will partner directly with business owners and leadership teams, offering high-level financial strategy and operational insight. This is a client-facing position that blends technical expertise with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable business decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic financial planning and consulting to clients with annual revenues ranging from $1 million to $50 million
- Prepare and maintain financial models and forecasts
- Manage budgetary processes and analyze budget vs. actual variances
- Assist clients with M&A activities and succession/exit planning
- Establish and implementing accounting systems, processes and internal controls
- Provide cash flow and treasury management for clients
- Develop and maintain executive dashboards and KPI monitoring and reporting
- Provide financial reporting and analysis to clients
- Provide interim or transitional CFO support
- Explain our services and value to prospective clients
- Onboard clients into new CFO services
- Collaborate with the CAS team on engagements and project delivery
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field (Master’s degree or CPA license a plus)
- 6+ years of recent CFO-related financial experience
- Ability to assist in developing a newly created position with the drive to take on leadership role
- Strong technical skills with the ability to professionally manage multiple client engagements
- Ability to multi-task, manage priorities and meet deadlines
- Positive attitude and sound judgment with strong communication, organizational, leadership, supervisory, and computer skills including Word, Excel and accounting software proficiency
