The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Fractional CFO (part-time engagement) to partner with our leadership team and guide Mynd Immersive’s financial strategy. The ideal candidate has startup experience pre–Series A through later funding rounds (Series A, B, C, etc.), a deep understanding of SaaS financial models, and the ability to balance hands-on execution with strategic foresight. Healthcare SaaS experience is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Finance Operations
- Partner with Controller to oversee accounting and bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online (QBO)
- Ensure GAAP compliance and refine Chart of Accounts and accounting policies
- Manage accounts receivable/payable, vendor negotiations, payroll, and royalty/license fee payments
- Maintain cash flow oversight, including cash inflows/outflows and liquidity management
Financial Reporting & KPIs
- Deliver timely monthly financial statements with insights for senior management
- Prepare quarterly/annual reporting for the Board and investors
- Monitor and analyze SaaS performance metrics: MRR, ARR, LTV, CAC, and other KPIs
Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
- Lead annual and quarterly budgeting in collaboration with leadership
- Develop forecasts and scenario models to guide growth and fundraising
- Support inventory and subscription-revenue forecasting
Banking & Capital Strategy
- Manage banking relationships, credit lines, loans, and equipment financing
- Provide treasury, liquidity, and financing strategy guidance
Human Resources & Compensation
- Design and oversee compensation structures, commission plans, and equity/options programs
- Support HR policies, employee/contractor agreements, renewals, and terminations
- Guide the benefits strategy appropriate to company stage
Legal & Compliance
- Oversee client Terms & Conditions and contract negotiations
- Partner with legal counsel on vendor, licensing, and distribution agreements
- Maintain contract tracking systems and support IP strategy (trademarks, copyrights, patents)
- Ensure healthcare compliance awareness (e.g., HIPAA)
Insurance & Risk Management
- Evaluate, secure, and renew corporate insurance policies
- Proactively manage risk exposure across business operations
Fundraising & Investor Relations
- Support investor sourcing, outreach, and pitch preparation
- Build and maintain financial models for venture capital due diligence
- Provide guidance through funding rounds from early-stage to growth capital
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (required) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration
- Master’s degree (preferred), such as:
- MBA (especially with healthcare management focus) for broader business acumen and strategic leadership
- Master of Finance (MFin) or Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) for deeper technical expertise
Professional Certifications (nice to have, highly valued)
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant): Demonstrates strong accounting and compliance expertise
- CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst): Valuable for investment analysis and fundraising
- CMA (Certified Management Accountant): Highlights financial planning and strategic management skills
Experience & Industry Knowledge
- Proven success in startup environments: ideally pre–Series A through Series A/B/C fundraising
- Familiarity with healthcare SaaS models (strong plus)
- Expertise in SaaS metrics (MRR, ARR, LTV, CAC)
- Knowledge of healthcare industry compliance; e.g., HIPAA (strong plus)
- Fintech literacy, including financial software, analytics, and AI tools
- Strong investor relations and fundraising experience, particularly in venture-backed settings
Leadership & Skills
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership (CFO, VP, or Director of Finance)
- Excellent communicator with the ability to influence executives, investors, and Board members
- Hands-on operator comfortable working in a fast-paced, early-stage environment while providing long-term strategic vision
