On behalf of a confidential client, a dynamic and fast-growing construction organization is seeking a strategic and hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead its financial operations during a pivotal phase of growth. This is a full-time, in-office executive role.
With 15+ years of experience, the ideal candidate brings deep expertise in construction finance, M&A, and capital structuring, and thrives in entrepreneurial, high-growth environments. As a core member of the executive leadership team, the CFO will play a central role in shaping the organization’s financial strategy and long-term direction.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Finance & Executive Leadership
- Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team in developing and executing the financial vision.
- Lead all financial aspects of M&A activity, including due diligence, valuation, financial modeling, and post-acquisition integration.
- Manage capital structure, banking relationships, debt covenants, and financing arrangements.
- Represent the organization with banks, investors, insurers, and other external stakeholders.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Oversee annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
- Deliver robust financial reporting, dashboards, KPIs, and performance analysis tailored to the construction sector (e.g., WIP, backlog, utilization, margins).
- Provide data-driven insights to support executive decision-making.
Accounting, Controls & Compliance
- Oversee core accounting functions including job costing, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, AP/AR, payroll, and tax.
- Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP or IFRS.
- Strengthen internal controls and scale financial processes to support continued growth.
Operational Finance & Technology
- Optimize cash flow, working capital, and vendor relationships.
- Evaluate and implement ERP and reporting systems (experience with Jonas, Sage 300, or Procore considered an asset).
- Partner closely with operations to embed financial accountability across project teams and business units.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or MBA strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including 5+ years in a senior role within construction or industrial services.
- Demonstrated success in M&A transactions, capital raises, and banking negotiations.
- Strong knowledge of construction finance principles, including WIP management and percentage-of-completion accounting.
- Advanced financial modeling, FP&A, and reporting capabilities.
- Proven ability to build, lead, and mentor finance teams.
- Decisive, adaptable leader comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
