As we enter a critical growth and regulatory phase, we are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial governance, regulatory reporting, and capital management functions.
Position Overview
The CFO will be a senior executive responsible for Hibit’s financial operations, regulatory financial reporting, capital adequacy, audit management, and financial governance. This role is central to our CIRO application, ongoing regulatory compliance, and long-term financial strategy.
The CFO will work closely with the Board of Directors, CEO/UDP, legal counsel, auditors, and regulators.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation, accuracy, and timely filing of financial statements, regulatory financial reports, and Form 1 filings.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with CIRO capital, liquidity, and reserve requirements, including monitoring of Risk-Adjusted Capital (RAC) and early warning thresholds.
- Review and approve monthly financial reports and regulatory filings prior to submission.
- Monitor and manage working capital, liquidity, and financial reserves to ensure financial viability and capital adequacy.
- Establish, implement, and maintain internal financial controls and risk management frameworks aligned with CIRO expectations.
- Ensure financial systems, records, and data retention meet CIRO standards and audit requirements.
- Act as the primary financial liaison with CIRO, regulators, external auditors, and financial service providers.
- Lead and support regulatory audits, examinations, and inquiries, and cooperate fully with regulatory authorities.
- Identify, escalate, and report any actual or potential breaches of capital adequacy, liquidity, or financial controls that could pose risk to clients or market integrity.
- Provide regular financial reporting and risk updates to senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Exercise executive-level oversight of accounting, financial reporting, and outsourced financial functions, remaining accountable where tasks are delegated.
- Support CIRO registration efforts, regulatory filings, and required financial disclosures.
- Maintain ongoing fitness for approval as an Executive, including disclosure of outside business activities, conflicts of interest, and material changes in circumstances.
- Fulfil continuing education and proficiency requirements applicable to the CFO role.
- Perform any other duties reasonably expected of a Chief Financial Officer under applicable laws, CIRO rules, or internal policies.
Qualifications
- CPA, CA, or equivalent financial accounting designation.
- Completion of PDO and CFO proficiency requirements administrated by CSI, or commitment to complete such requirements within a specified timeframe.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in financial leadership roles, including CFO, VP Finance, or senior controller with CIRO or IIROC regulated firms.
- Strong experience with regulated financial institutions (investment dealers, broker-dealers, fintechs, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with regulatory financial reporting, audits, and capital requirements.
- Deep understanding of internal controls, governance frameworks, and financial risk management.
- Ability to operate effectively in a highly regulated, fast-evolving environment.
- Excellent communication skills with regulators, auditors and boards
Nice to Have’s
- Experience in crypto, or digital assets.
- Experience supporting dealer registration, licensing, or regulatory remediation.
- Familiarity with client asset custody, trust accounts, or crypto custody structures.
- Experience scaling financial operations in a growing or early-stage regulated company.
