The Opportunity:
Our client, a large, diversified and community-rooted Western Canadian enterprise, is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join its executive leadership team.
Based in British Columbia, this organization operates a multi-entity, multi-site platform with significant revenues, a strong asset base, and operations spanning retail, distribution, commercial services, and consumer-facing business lines. The CFO will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and Board, while also leading the finance function day-to-day. The successful candidate will bring a blend of executive leadership, commercial acumen, operational finance capability, and the ability to drive performance across a complex organization.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead all aspects of finance, accounting, treasury, tax, audit, risk management, and financial reporting across a multi-entity organization
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, executive team, and Board on financial strategy, capital allocation, and business performance
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and enterprise-wide KPI reporting
- Support business unit leaders with financial insights that improve decision-making, profitability, and accountability
- Oversee cash flow, banking relationships, financing strategy, and balance sheet optimization
- Lead annual audits, regulatory compliance, and governance requirements
- Identify and execute opportunities for systems enhancement, process improvement, and finance transformation
- Evaluate growth opportunities, capital projects, acquisitions, and strategic investments
- Lead financial due diligence, integration planning, and post-acquisition value creation initiatives related to mergers and acquisitions
- Build, mentor, and elevate a high-performing finance team across multiple functions
- Help shape enterprise strategy while ensuring disciplined financial stewardship
What You’ll Need to Be Successful:
- Proven experience as a CFO, VP Finance, or senior finance executive within a sizable, operationally complex organization
- Experience leading finance within a multi-site, multi-entity, asset-heavy, or consumer-facing business environment
- Strong commercial instincts with the ability to balance strategy and hands-on execution
- Demonstrated success partnering with CEOs, Boards, and senior operational leaders
- Experience leading or supporting mergers, acquisitions, integrations, or other strategic growth transactions
- Experience overseeing treasury, capital planning, lending relationships, and enterprise risk
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to build credibility across all levels of an organization
- Background in retail, distribution, consumer services, energy, agriculture, or similarly diverse operating models is highly valued
- CPA designation required; additional MBA or advanced business education considered an asset
