Job Description
The role
We’re looking for an experienced, commercial and purpose driven Chief Financial Officer to join our Executive Committee and lead the finance function at Octopus Investments.
This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for ensuring the business is financially resilient, well informed and set up for long term, sustainable growth. You’ll work closely with the CEO and ExCo, shaping strategy, driving performance and acting as a trusted advisor across the organisation.
Your remit will span core finance operations, fund finance, FP&A, corporate development, procurement and facilities, with leadership responsibility for high performing, multi-disciplinary teams. You’ll also have oversight of growth initiatives across the Group, collaborating with our Founder and the respective CEOs.
What you’ll be doing
- Owning and delivering the financial strategy for Octopus Investments, aligned to long term growth, risk and regulatory objectives
- Acting as a strategic partner to the CEO and Executive Committee, providing clear, data led insight and challenge
- Leading and evolving a modern, scalable finance function that supports high performance, innovation and growth
- Building a right sized Corporate Development capability, supporting M&A, partnerships, integration and other strategic growth initiatives across Octopus Investments and the wider Group (excluding OE and Kraken)
- Overseeing budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting, ensuring strong financial discipline and transparency
- Ensuring robust governance, risk management and compliance across all finance activities, including FCA and fund specific requirements
- Driving operational efficiency through transformation, improved controls and cost optimisation
- Leading, developing and mentoring senior finance leaders, including Finance Directors across Group businesses
- Representing the business with external stakeholders including auditors, regulators and investors
Qualifications
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role (CFO, FD or equivalent) within financial services, asset management or another regulated environment
- Strong track record of operating at board or ExCo level and influencing strategic decision making
- Deep technical expertise across FP&A, fund finance and financial operations
- Experience supporting both organic and inorganic growth, including M&A and strategic initiatives
- A collaborative, inclusive leadership style with the ability to build high performing teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A genuine passion for purpose led business and building organisations that do good as well as perform well
