A private equity–backed healthcare and retirement living organisation is seeking an experienced Interim Chief Financial Officer to lead a series of defined transformation, performance improvement, and strategic finance projects. These assignments are structured as clearly defined contract engagements, typically 3, 6, or 12 months in duration, depending on project scope and organisational priorities.
The Opportunity
This role is suited to an experienced interim finance leader who thrives in delivery-focused environments and is comfortable stepping into organisations to stabilise, transform, and enhance financial performance over defined timeframes. Working closely with the CEO, Board, and investors, you will deliver measurable outcomes aligned to key value-creation priorities.
Typical Project Focus Areas
Assignments may include:
- Finance function stabilisation or leadership transition cover
- Cashflow improvement, working capital optimisation, and financial control strengthening
- Budgeting, forecasting, and investor-grade reporting implementation
- M&A support including due diligence, integration, and post-deal performance tracking
- Refinancing, lender engagement, or capital structure projects
- Transformation programmes, systems upgrades, or performance improvement initiatives
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on executive leadership of the finance function during the project period
- Deliver clearly defined financial and operational improvement objectives within agreed timelines
- Partner with the CEO, Board, and private equity stakeholders to support value-creation priorities
- Establish robust reporting, governance, and KPI frameworks to support ongoing performance
- Mentor and support the existing finance leadership team to ensure continuity following project completion
Candidate Profile
- Proven Interim CFO / Interim Finance Director experience delivering project-based assignments within private equity–backed, multi-site healthcare, social care, or services organisations
- Demonstrated success delivering measurable outcomes within 3–12 month transformation or stabilisation engagements
- Strong stakeholder management experience across investors, lenders, and executive leadership teams
- Hands-on, delivery-focused leadership style with the ability to create rapid impact
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification preferred.
