Our client is an expert in the acquisition, operation, and optimization of flex and industrial properties. The platform manages a diversified, multi-market portfolio backed by long-term equity relationships with several hundred high-net-worth investors and family offices. The firm operates with an entrepreneurial mindset and is actively building scalable infrastructure to support continued growth.
Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and a trusted partner to ownership. This role combines senior financial leadership with operational oversight and strategic execution responsibility. The successful candidate will oversee all financial functions while also managing day-to-day operations, asset management infrastructure, reporting, and internal processes.
This is a hands-on role suited for a leader comfortable operating in a lean environment while building systems and processes to support scale.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting
- Lead all financial operations, including accounting oversight, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Review and oversee fund-level and asset-level financial statements.
- Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages.
- Oversee fund and entity structures, including property-level and holding company accounting.
- Manage debt compliance, covenant reporting, and lender relationships.
- Coordinate tax matters with external advisors.
- Establish and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Support acquisitions and dispositions, including contract negotiation support, due diligence oversight, closing processes, and post-acquisition integration.
Platform Operations & Portfolio Management
- Oversee day-to-day firm operations, including asset management processes and property management oversight (internal and third-party).
- Build and scale operational infrastructure, including systems, workflows, and reporting standards.
- Lead implementation and optimization of technology platforms across accounting, asset management, and workflow systems.
- Establish KPIs and dashboards to track portfolio performance, leasing activity, expenses, and NOI growth.
- Manage and develop internal team members and coordinate with outsourced service providers.
- Ensure operational consistency across assets and markets.
- Support execution of property-level business plans, including leasing strategy, income growth, expense control, and capital and tenant improvement tracking.
Leadership & Strategic Partnership
- Act as a strategic advisor and operational second-in-command to ownership.
- Participate in investment discussions and broader strategic planning initiatives.
- Interface with investors as needed regarding reporting, performance, and operational updates.
- Help establish a culture of accountability, transparency, and execution across the platform.
- Balance high-level strategic thinking with hands-on problem solving.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in real estate investment management, private equity, or real assets.
- Prior experience in a CFO, COO, or combined senior real estate leadership role preferred.
- Strong understanding of real estate accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience managing debt structures and lender requirements.
- Knowledge of asset-level and portfolio-level performance metrics.
- Experience operating and scaling real estate platforms in a lean environment.
- Exposure to industrial, flex, retail, or value-add commercial real estate is a plus.
- Strong financial modeling, analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
- CPA, CFA, and/or MBA preferred.
