Chief Financial Officer
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will oversee financial operations across diverse business interests spanning seven states, including multi-family real estate holdings and a historic hotel. This role requires a hands-on financial leader with deep expertise in accounting, tax, financial reporting, and internal controls. The CFO will manage budgeting, financial reporting, and operational analysis while ensuring regulatory compliance and providing strategic financial insights to support profitability and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
- Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience, including public accounting and GAAP
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, FASB standards, and tax laws
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial tools (e.g., Excel, QuickBooks)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Self-starter able to work independently and meet deadlines
- Flexible and willing to support tasks beyond core responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations for the hotel and related business entities
- Prepare and analyze financial data to support leadership decision-making
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting
- Maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure strong internal controls
- Monitor controls safeguarding revenue, expenses, assets, and liabilities
- Prepare financial statements for 50+ entities, primarily real estate-related LLCs, partnerships, S-corps, and family trusts
- Report monthly actuals vs. budget and support operational financial analysis
- Coordinate with external CPA firm on reviewed financial statements and tax filings
- Supervise journal entries, reconciliations, and brokerage/bank account activity
- Prepare lender reporting and liquidity summaries for ownership
- Oversee accounting functions including AP, AR, payroll, inventory, and general ledger
- Manage accounting related to apartment holdings, including partner distributions and management fees
- Serve as primary contact with financial institutions
- Process semi-monthly corporate payroll and manage intercompany overhead allocations
- Support corporate HR onboarding processes, including benefits enrollment
Work location: Newport Beach, CA. On-site Monday-Friday required.
Compensation: $200k-250k DOE + benefits
