ROLE PURPOSE
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key executive responsible for driving profitable growth, strengthening financial performance, and enabling Q-Line’s continued expansion across North America. As a strategic partner to the President and Executive Leadership Team, the CFO provides financial leadership, commercial insight, and disciplined capital stewardship to accelerate enterprise value creation.
Key Accountabilities
Growth Strategy & Commercial Leadership
Leads the financial components of corporate strategy, ensuring growth initiatives, pricing decisions, and commercial plans deliver sustainable revenue expansion and margin improvement.
Partner closely with the ownership group to plan, enable, and execute the company’s long-term growth strategy.
Drive expansion both organically and through a disciplined mergers & acquisitions (M&A) program, including opportunity evaluation, due diligence, integration planning, and post-acquisition performance management.
Profitability & Performance Management
Builds advanced FP&A, analytics, and forecasting capabilities that illuminate customer profitability, operational efficiency, and cost structure opportunities. Drives enterprise KPIs and performance dashboards.
Capital Allocation & Financial Structure
Optimize fleet financing, credit facilities, and capital deployment to support asset growth. Ensures investment decisions meet disciplined ROI and payback standards.
Risk Management & Financial Governance
Oversees enterprise risk, treasury, insurance, compliance, and internal controls to protect margins, cash flow, and operational resilience.
Financial Operations & Systems Modernization
Modernizes finance systems, processes, and reporting to support scale, efficiency, and real-time decision-making.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Leads and develops a high-performing Finance team, establishing a disciplined approach to succession planning and talent development to ensure leadership continuity and support the organization’s long-term growth trajectory. A candidate who builds strong relationships with banks, lenders, insurers, auditors, and strategic partners to support growth. Serves as a senior executive leader with the capability and presence to communicate confidently, succinctly, and transparently with the Board of Directors.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
An experienced financial executive with a proven track record in growth-oriented, asset-heavy, multi-site, or transportation/logistics environments. Brings strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and operational finance capabilities. Demonstrates leadership presence, analytical depth, and the ability to elevate Finance into a proactive business partner. Demonstrates the executive maturity, business acumen, and communication skills required to engage directly with the Board of Directors, including presenting complex financial and strategic topics in a clear, actionable manner.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration; CPA required, MBA strongly preferred
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior executive finance role (CFO, VP Finance, or equivalent)
- Proven track record in an asset-heavy, capital-intensive industry: Transportation, logistics, trucking, fleet, distribution, or similar environments strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience leading or executing M&A transactions, including due diligence, deal structuring, integration planning, and post-acquisition performance management
- Experience operating in a multi-site, geographically dispersed business across Canada and/or North America
- Track record of building and scaling FP&A, analytics, and financial reporting capabilities in a growth-oriented organization
- Experience modernizing finance systems, ERP platforms, and reporting infrastructure
- Established relationships with banks, lenders, and capital markets partners; experience managing asset-based lending, fleet financing, or credit facilities is a strong asset
- Experience reporting to or presenting directly to a Board of Directors or ownership group
