The Position
Westjustice (Western Community Legal Centre) is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary to play a critical leadership role in strengthening the financial sustainability, governance and operational effectiveness of a leading community legal organisation.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Board, the Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary plays a pivotal role in strengthening Westjustice’s financial sustainability, governance framework and operational effectiveness.
This senior, hands‑on position combines strategic oversight with operational delivery and is a key member of the executive leadership team. Responsibilities include leading financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting and reporting; overseeing audit, risk and compliance; supporting funding models and grant acquittals; and acting as Company Secretary, including Board and sub‑committee support, governance processes and statutory compliance.
The role also contributes to organisational strategy, capability building and continuous improvement, supporting Westjustice’s mission and long‑term impact.
The Organisation
Westjustice advances social justice and human rights by providing free legal assistance, systemic advocacy and community education to people experiencing disadvantage in Melbourne’s west.
