Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Chief Financial Officer to lead the Australian operations of a North American Private Equity-backed business operating within the Industrials sector, headquartered in Melbourne.
This is a high-impact, execution-focused role suited to a finance leader who is genuinely forward-leaning, someone who brings not only technical financial rigour but the strategic vision and commercial acumen to help build and scale a business in a competitive market.
The successful candidate will play a central role in driving value creation from day one, working closely with the PE sponsor and local leadership team to execute on a clearly defined and well-advanced pipeline of M&A opportunities already identified within the Australian market.
The ideal candidate will have an unconventional path to the CFO seat — one that began in investment banking or private equity, where they developed a deep understanding of deal structuring, capital allocation, and value creation frameworks before transitioning into an operational finance leadership role. This background will be critical, as the role demands someone equally comfortable in the boardroom negotiating acquisitions as they are managing the day-to-day financial operations of a growing platform business.
Experience working with or reporting to a North American investor or PE sponsor will be highly regarded, as will familiarity with US-style governance, reporting standards, and the pace and expectations that come with a private equity-backed environment.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, financial reports, company audits, compliance, and bank relationships. They will collaborate with the CEO and the executive team to make decisions regarding company's financial strategy and operations. The candidate will possess a strong background in finance and management.
