Partnering with a PE backed Services business who are looking for a CFO. The CFO will be a critical member of the executive leadership team, working alongside the CEO and PE investor to drive the financial strategy of the platform. This business needs a commercially confident CFO who can be a genuine co-pilot to the CEO, contribute to M&A origination and execution, and help build the financial infrastructure needed to support rapid, acquisition-led growth.
The successful candidate will relish the pace and complexity of a buy and build environment, be energised by working closely with a PE sponsor, and have either led or played a central role in a previous exit. You will be equally comfortable interrogating an acquisition target's financials as you are presenting to the board or negotiating with lenders.
Key responsibilities include;
Strategic & Commercial Leadership
- Act as a trusted commercial partner to the CEO, contributing to the overall strategic direction of the business and playing an active role in the leadership team.
- Work closely with the PE investor to deliver on the investment thesis, provide regular performance updates and support board reporting.
- Lead financial modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making, investment cases and capital allocation.
- Identify and drive commercial levers to improve EBITDA performance, margin expansion and working capital efficiency across the platform.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with lenders, advisors, banks and other key external stakeholders.
Buy & Build / M&A
- Lead the financial workstream on all acquisitions, from initial screening and financial due diligence through to post-completion integration.
- Develop and maintain a robust financial framework for evaluating acquisition targets, including valuation modelling, return analysis and risk assessment.
- Work alongside the CEO and PE sponsor on deal structuring, SPA negotiations and debt financing arrangements.
- Own the post-acquisition integration process from a finance perspective, ensuring acquired businesses are rapidly aligned to group reporting standards and controls.
- Build the financial infrastructure — systems, processes and team capability required to support a growing multi-site, multi-entity group.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Own the group's financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring timely and accurate output that meets the requirements of the board and PE sponsor.
- Deliver insightful monthly management information that drives performance conversations at executive and board level.
- Maintain robust financial controls, governance and compliance across all group entities.
- Lead annual budget and three-to-five year strategic planning processes, ensuring plans are well-evidenced, stretching and commercially grounded.
- Manage banking and lender relationships, including covenant compliance, reporting and any future refinancing activity.
Exit Readiness
- Champion exit readiness across the business, ensuring the group is structured, governed and reported in a way that maximises value at exit.
- Build and maintain a robust data room and financial narrative to support a future sale or fundraising process.
- Work closely with the PE sponsor and advisors on exit preparation.
- Ensure the business is equipped with the quality of earnings, normalised EBITDA analysis and financial story that acquirers and investors expect to see.
People & Team
- Build, lead and develop a high-performing finance function capable of supporting a rapidly growing group.
- Instil a commercially minded, performance-driven culture within the finance team.
- Act as a mentor and develop talent within the finance function to ensure succession and capability depth.
