About the Team:
The Global Payment team of ByteDance provides payment solutions - including payment acquisitions, disbursements, transaction monitoring, payment method management, foreign exchange conversion, accounting, reconciliations, and so on to ensure that our users have a smooth and secure payment experience on ByteDance platforms including TikTok.
We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the UK to lead and build the finance function for our regulated payments/e-money entity. This role will be responsible for establishing a robust financial management framework from the ground up, ensuring full compliance with UK regulatory requirements, and partnering with business leadership to drive sustainable growth.
This is a senior leadership role requiring deep expertise in customer funds safeguarding, regulatory reporting, and financial governance within a UK-regulated payments, banking, or fintech environment.
Responsibilities:
* Build and lead the UK finance function from the ground up, including accounting, treasury, financial reporting, tax, and financial controls, in alignment with group standards
* Oversee safeguarding of customer funds, ensuring compliance with UK regulatory requirements (e.g. FCA expectations), including reconciliation processes and controls
* Own statutory and regulatory reporting for the UK entity, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable regulations
* Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and governance frameworks, supporting licensing requirements and ongoing regulatory obligations
* Provide strategic financial leadership to senior management and Board, translating financial insights into actionable business decisions
* Own and manage P&L performance, including revenue, operating margin, cost control, transfer pricing, and budgeting processes
* Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles, and monitor financial performance against targets
* Partner closely with global finance, treasury, and tax teams to ensure alignment on policies, reporting standards, and key financial assumptions
* Prepare financial statements and manage external reporting, including audits and regulator submissions
* Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, banking partners, and regulators
* Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Business teams to support business growth while maintaining regulatory compliance
* Build and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering strong collaboration and execution in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
* Proven experience as a finance leader in a UK-based payment institution, e-money institution, bank, or fintech operating within a global business environment
* Strong experience in customer funds management, safeguarding requirements, compliance/regulatory reporting, and building finance functions from ground up
* Prior experience operating at Board level or Senior Management level with accountability for financial governance and oversight
* Demonstrated ability to manage end-to-end P&L performance, including revenue, operating margin, budgeting, cost management (transfer pricing, direct and demand-driven costs), and financial planning across the business
* Experience in establishing and overseeing core finance operations, including accounting, treasury, reporting, and tax in a regulated environment
* Strong stakeholder management experience, with ability to collaborate across cross-border and cross-functional teams, including regulators, auditors, banking partners, and senior leadership
* Excellent communication skills with ability to translate complex financial and regulatory matters into clear and actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree (or above) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
* Professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA, or equivalent
* Experience working in high-growth or scaling fintech environments
* Familiarity with FCA regulatory framework
