We are building next-generation AI infrastructure connectivity platforms using siliconized integrated photonics to enable scalable, high-density, and energy-efficient compute connectivity. Our mission is to revolutionize optical interconnects and enable “Scaling AI. Sustainably.” by delivering multi-terabit connectivity systems for hyperscale and next-generation compute environments.
The company operates globally with key engineering and operational presence in the United States (HQ: San Jose), India (Bangalore), Taiwan (Hsinchu), and Malaysia (Penang). Having raised ~$33M in Series A, Mixx is scaling toward high-volume commercialization and a projected $300M revenue trajectory, with plans to raise a significant Series B round.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a CFO to lead our financial endeavors as we move to our Series B funding.
The Chief Financial Officer will report directly to the CEO and serve as a strategic partner on all matters of financial strategy, capital allocation, operational scaling, and investor engagement. This is a pivotal hire: the CFO will own the financial narrative of the company through its next funding rounds, build the finance and accounting infrastructure required to support rapid manufacturing scale-up, and partner closely with Operations and Supply Chain leadership to optimize unit economics in a hardware-intensive, inventory-driven business.
The ideal candidate is a proven finance executive who has scaled manufacturing operations within a fabless semiconductor or hardware systems company, successfully raised growth-stage capital, and built world-class investor relations practices with institutional investors, strategic corporates, and banking institutions.
Required Qualifications:
- 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, with a minimum of 5 years as CFO or equivalent senior finance role.
- Hands-on builder, not just a public-company CFO.
- Must be Bay Area based.
- Drive financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range modeling across design, manufacturing, and go-to-market functions.
- Own capital allocation decisions, balancing R&D investment, wafer commitments, NRE spend, and commercial ramp.
- Semiconductor / photonics / AI infrastructure background (must-have).
- Deep inventory + manufacturing finance expertise (must-have).
- Experience scaling hardware companies to commercialization.
- Global operations experience (India, Taiwan, Malaysia).
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required; MBA, CPA, or CFA strongly preferred.
- Oversee all accounting, tax, treasury, audit, 409A valuations, and compliance functions across applicable jurisdictions.
- Build financial frameworks to optimize unit economics, gross margin, and cash-to-cash cycle across complex semiconductor supply chains.
- Structure and negotiate long-term supply, NRE, and capacity reservation agreements with foundry and manufacturing partners.
- Implement standard costing, inventory tracking across geographies, and manufacturing cost control; drive working capital efficiency as the company scales from low-volume builds to high-volume production.
- Build and retain a scalable global finance and IR organization.
- Deliver clear, consistent board and investor reporting cadence.
- Implement financial systems, controls, and processes supporting audit and public-company readiness.
- Partner with Operations to achieve targeted gross margin and working capital improvements as manufacturing scales toward the $300M revenue trajectory.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior CFO experience at a fabless semiconductor or silicon photonics company that scaled from early commercial ramp through high-volume production.
- Prior experience taking a company public (IPO) or executing a strategic sale/merger.
- Network across semiconductor-focused investors, sovereign wealth funds, and strategic corporate venture arms.
- Familiarity with government incentive programs relevant to the semiconductor industry (e.g., CHIPS Act, international equivalents).
- Fundraising experience.
Salary-Scale: $250,000 to $350,000, base could go higher, depending on skill, experience and equity offered.
