Position Overview
The Business Operations Lead will play a critical role within a rapidly growing Consumer Platforms & Services organization that supports both B2B and direct-to-consumer business models, including AVOD, FAST, EST, and VOD offerings. This position serves as a key operational partner across Finance, Product, Engineering, Legal, Commercial, and Accounting teams to ensure the successful execution, governance, and scalability of platform operations.
The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing financial operations, vendor governance, partner reporting, and cross-functional business processes within a digital media, streaming, or platform-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Operations Leadership
- Lead operational governance across multiple platform business lines, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and financial plans.
- Serve as a central liaison across Product, Technology, Finance, Tax, Legal, Procurement, Accounting, and external rights organizations.
- Translate business strategies and commercial agreements into scalable operational workflows and execution plans.
- Drive operational efficiencies and process improvements that support growth and scalability.
Financial Operations & Forecast Management
- Operationalize budgets, forecasts, and financial plans into day-to-day business execution.
- Lead monthly revenue and expense pacing reviews, including variance analysis and risk assessment.
- Monitor actual performance against approved budgets and forecasts.
- Partner closely with Finance to support financial planning, reporting, and accrual processes.
Vendor Management & Spend Governance
- Manage vendor strategy, statement of work (SOW) development, and vendor execution.
- Coordinate cross-functional approval processes involving Finance, Legal, Procurement, and Technology teams.
- Drive vendor optimization initiatives and identify opportunities for cost efficiencies.
- Ensure vendor engagements align with business priorities and budget objectives.
Deal Operations & Partner Management
- Oversee operational execution of commercial agreements and strategic partner relationships.
- Track contractual obligations, payment terms, and reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with financial, operational, and contractual commitments.
- Translate new deals and partnerships into scalable operational and reporting workflows.
- Review and validate advertising, transactional, and viewership reporting prior to distribution.
- Manage partner inquiries related to reporting, payments, and operational performance.
- Identify operational risks and implement process improvements that enhance scalability and efficiency.
Transactional & Reporting Operations
- Own transaction integrity across platform services and monetization models.
- Lead revenue tracking, reconciliation, and reporting activities in partnership with Finance.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of internal financial reports and partner-facing performance reporting.
- Establish and maintain operational controls that support accuracy, audit readiness, and compliance.
Tax, Royalty & Compliance Operations
- Partner with Tax and Finance teams to support territory expansion and compliance initiatives.
- Coordinate tax registration, reporting, and payment processes across domestic and international markets.
- Manage operational execution of royalty and rights organization obligations, including reporting, calculations, and payments.
- Ensure accuracy of royalty reporting, usage tracking, and reconciliations.
- Collaborate with Legal and Finance teams to evaluate and onboard new rights-management organizations and partners.
- Maintain compliance with evolving regulatory, financial, and reporting requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Operations, or a related field.
- Proven experience managing budgets, forecasting, vendor spend, accruals, and financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of streaming and digital platform business models, including AVOD, FAST, SVOD, EST, and transactional video services.
- Experience managing vendor relationships, contract compliance, and operational workflows.
- Knowledge of revenue-share calculations, royalty reporting, and transactional reconciliations.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Product, Commercial, and Operations teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience within streaming, connected TV, digital distribution, entertainment technology, or media platforms.
- Experience working with ERP, procurement, accounting, or financial management systems.
- MBA or equivalent advanced business experience.
- Familiarity with rights management organizations, royalty administration, and digital content monetization ecosystems.
