About The Role
The Financial Controller (Chief Financial Officer) is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of Parks Victoria's financial control, reporting, and corporate insurance functions.
The position leads a specialist team delivering financial accounting, transactional, and reporting services, as well as oversight of the organisation's corporate insurance program. We're seeking an accomplished professional with the ability to communicate effectively - the successful individual will regularly provide expert financial advice to the Executive and senior leaders on financial performance, risks, and opportunities to strengthen financial management.
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Business Services, the role ensures the integrity of financial data and processes, as well as effective budget management. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the
Financial Management Act 1994, Standing Directions of the Minister for Finance, and other relevant legislative and policy frameworks.
This role directly contributes to Parks Victoria's transformation agenda by driving continuous improvement in financial systems and processes, ensuring a strong foundation for governance and service delivery.

The Financial Accounting team delivers financial management and governance frameworks that enable informed decision-making and compliance, uplifting overall organisational performance.
We're Looking For Someone With
- Extensive experience in senior financial management roles within a complex organisation, preferably within the public sector
- Strong knowledge of public sector financial frameworks, accounting standards, and statutory reporting requirements
- Proven experience leading financial accounting, reporting, audit, and budget management functions
- Demonstrated ability to provide authoritative, strategic financial advice to executive stakeholders
- Experience overseeing corporate insurance programs, including policy management and claims oversight
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Membership (or eligibility for membership) of CPA Australia or CA ANZ
