M-Team Solutions is partnering with a growing manufacturing organization in Farmington Hills, Michigan, to identify an experienced Sales Operations Manager. This critical leadership position serves as the commercial execution leader for a highly customized engineer-to-order (ETO) special cutting tool business.
The Sales Operations Manager will own the entire quote-to-order and order-to-cash process, ensuring customer requirements are accurately translated into quotations, orders, production requirements, and ultimately delivered with exceptional service. This role acts as the operational backbone between Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Finance, driving speed, accuracy, customer satisfaction, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the Quotation Process
- Own and manage the complete quotation workflow.
- Ensure accurate scope definition and requirement capture.
- Coordinate with Sales Engineering and Application Engineering teams.
- Validate pricing, lead times, and margin expectations.
- Drive timely quote turnaround and responsiveness.
Manage Order Integrity & Commercial Execution
- Ensure all customer orders accurately reflect approved quotations.
- Verify drawings, revisions, specifications, and approvals are complete prior to release.
- Confirm pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms.
- Serve as the escalation point for order discrepancies, scope clarifications, change orders, and quote revisions.
Lead Customer Service & Order Fulfillment Teams
- Manage and develop a team of quoting, order management, and customer service professionals.
- Establish disciplined customer communication processes regarding:
- Lead time confirmations
- Project milestones
- Delivery updates
- Delay notifications
- Order status tracking
- Partner with Operations to proactively address delivery risks and expedite critical decisions.
- Ensure customers receive professional, timely, and accurate communication.
Drive Cross-Functional Coordination
- Serve as a key liaison between:
- Sales
- Engineering
- Manufacturing
- Supply Chain
- Finance
- Facilitate resolution of engineering questions, capacity constraints, make-versus-buy decisions, and commercial changes.
- Maintain alignment between what was sold and what is being manufactured.
Champion Process Improvement
- Design, document, and improve quote-to-cash workflows.
- Establish and monitor KPIs, including:
- Quote turnaround time
- Order entry accuracy
- Commercial-error-driven engineering rework
- On-time delivery performance
- Customer responsiveness metrics
- Drive ERP and CRM best practices, data integrity, and process standardization.
- Identify opportunities for automation and system improvements.
Develop and Lead High-Performing Teams
- Directly manage five team members across quoting, order management, and customer service functions.
- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability.
- Coach employees on commercial decision-making, customer communication, and technical product understanding.
- Foster a culture of ownership, responsiveness, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in:
- Sales Operations
- Customer Service Leadership
- Quoting and Order Management
- Manufacturing Operations
- Engineering Documentation
- ERP and CRM Systems
- Experience working with:
- Special Cutting Tools
- Precision Tooling
- Workholding Solutions
- Engineered Industrial Products
