The Position
Australian Volunteers International (AVI) is seeking an accomplished and commercially astute Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Company Secretary to join the organisation at a defining point in its development.
Reporting to Chief Executive Officer, the CFO will be a trusted strategic partner to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board. Key priorities will include supporting a major government contract rebid, strengthening financial modelling and commercial decision-making, and advising on partnerships and future organisational opportunities.
The CFO will oversee an internationally dispersed finance function supporting operations across Australia and 22 countries. The role encompasses financial strategy, budgeting and forecasting, commercial analysis, audit, risk, compliance, financial systems and Company Secretary responsibilities.
AVI is seeking an established, commercially astute CFO with strong executive leadership credentials and the ability to lead an internationally dispersed finance function. The successful candidate will bring strong financial modelling, major bid and commercial capability, including evaluating strategic partnerships and potential M&A opportunities. They will be a trusted adviser to the CEO and Board, with sound governance, risk and Company Secretary credentials. CPA or CA qualifications are mandatory.
This is an 18-month fixed term appointment. Based in Melbourne, AVI provides a flexible hybrid working environment, with at least two days in the office. A 0.8 FTE arrangement or nine-day fortnight may also be considered for the right candidate. Reflecting AVI’s international footprint, there may also be opportunities to work periodically from overseas locations such as Fiji or the Philippines, where this supports the role and organisation.
