This assignment is supported by the PATMI Partnership, enabling us to bring in an experienced financial leader to guide our capital strategy, strengthen our financial governance, and prepare for sustainable expansion.
Role Overview
The Fractional CFO will serve as a strategic and hands-on finance leader, responsible for steering the company’s financial strategy, fundraising initiatives, and capital efficiency.
As a key member of the leadership team, you will help build a robust financial infrastructure that supports scaling across multiple markets, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in payments and digital banking.
This role is ideal for a seasoned finance professional with deep Fintech experience who thrives in fast-moving, high-impact startup environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute a financial strategy that supports growth, risk management, and capital efficiency.
- Partner with the CEO and executive team on strategic decision-making, including financial forecasting, scenario modeling, and long-term planning.
- Establish key financial KPIs and dashboards to drive visibility and accountability across the organization.
- Advise on corporate structuring, capital allocation, and financial sustainability.
2. Fundraising & Investor Relations
- Lead the Series A fundraising process, managing investor outreach, valuation modeling, and due diligence.
- Build compelling investor materials and financial narratives that align with the company’s mission and growth story.
- Maintain the cap table, manage equity allocations, and oversee financial structuring.
- Cultivate relationships with venture investors, family offices, and strategic partners.
- Identify and pursue non-dilutive funding opportunities such as grants, venture debt, or partnership-based financing.
3. Financial Operations & Controls
- Strengthen financial operations by implementing scalable accounting systems, policies, and internal controls.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to optimize the company’s financial health.
- Manage financial reporting, audits, and coordination with external accountants and advisors.
- Establish robust treasury and cash management frameworks to ensure liquidity and capital efficiency.
4. Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
- Work closely with compliance and legal teams to ensure financial systems and reporting align with regulatory requirements (e.g., MAS, BNM, or other regional regulators).
- Support capital adequacy planning and financial readiness for payment and digital banking license requirements.
- Oversee financial compliance, audit readiness, and adherence to AML/CFT obligations.
5. Business Partnership & Commercial Finance
- Collaborate with product, operations, and commercial teams to evaluate financial performance, pricing models, and product unit economics.
- Conduct financial analysis to support strategic partnerships, product launches, and regional expansion.
- Provide data-driven recommendations to optimize margins and cost structures.
6. Reporting & Stakeholder Communication
- Deliver monthly and quarterly financial reports, management updates, and board packs.
- Build real-time reporting dashboards for leadership and investors.
- Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for both internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership capacity (CFO, VP Finance, or Head of Finance).
- Proven experience in Fintech, payments, neobanking, or regulated financial services sectors.
- Strong track record in fundraising, investor relations, and capital structuring.
- Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, valuation, and scenario planning.
- Understanding of financial compliance, audit, and regulatory frameworks in the payments or banking ecosystem.
Preferred:
- Prior experience working with or reporting to MAS, BNM, or equivalent financial regulators.
- Familiarity with digital banking or payment institution licensing requirements.
- Experience in regional or multi-entity operations (especially across Southeast Asia).
- Professional qualifications such as CPA, CA, CFA, or MBA (Finance).
