Overview
This job contributes to REI’s success by leading the design and ongoing management of REI’s enterprise operating model—ensuring that strategic, financial, and operational rhythms are connected across the co-op. This role creates frameworks, governance, and prioritization systems that align leaders around shared goals, improve execution speed, and strengthen cross-divisional collaboration.
By building a single view of how REI plans, decides, and delivers, the DVP ensures that enterprise initiatives are clear, scalable, and measurable. This leader will design and refine processes that reduce duplication, drive accountability, and empower teams—helping REI operate as one enterprise while maintaining agility and focus on impact. Ultimately, the DVP of Enterprise Business Operations ensures the co-op’s operating model enables growth, accelerates decision-making, and enhances REI’s ability to deliver on its strategic and member goals.

Leading the Way
- As a member of the Leadership Forum, develops a deep understanding of, effectively communicates and broadly supports execution of company strategies and priorities.
- Works cross-divisionally to drive execution of specific divisional and company strategies, initiatives and projects.
- Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the organization promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
- Supports the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods and practices to promote REI key messages.
- Challenges and inspires employees to achieve business results.
- Ensures employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
- Oversees training and development of employees directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.
- Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
- Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to employees to achieve department, company and customer results.
- Establishes and maintains visibility within the department.
- Monitors operational statistics, reports trends, variances and issues, and takes appropriate action.
Key Responsibilities
- Enterprise Operating Model:
- Design, document, and evolve REI’s operating model to align strategic, financial, and operational cadences; reduce duplication; and improve efficiency across divisions.
- Governance & Decision Frameworks:
- Establish enterprise governance that clarifies decision rights, enhances transparency, and accelerates cross-functional alignment without adding unnecessary complexity.
- Operational Excellence:
- Identify inefficiencies and implement scalable process improvements that reduce friction, optimize resources, and enhance productivity across the organization.
- Enterprise Planning:
- Create and manage an integrated enterprise planning calendar that connects key strategy, budgeting, operational and talent deliverables and milestones.
- Performance Management:
- Develop and maintain KPI scorecards and dashboards that centralize performance metrics, promote accountability, and enable data-driven decision-making.
- Change Leadership:
- Lead a center of excellence for the organization. Consult and advise enterprise initiative leaders and facilitate stakeholder alignment to minimize disruption, accelerate adoption of new processes, and embed continuous improvement.
- Program Management:
- Lead program management for enterprise operating calendar, and act as center of excellence and community lead for Program Management across the co-op.
- Lead enterprise PM team, established to support highest priority initiatives.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Lead cross-functional teams to align on process priorities and execution.
- Facilitate enterprise-wide workshops and process design sessions to strengthen alignment and clarity.
Responsibilities And Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in large-scale operations, business transformation, or enterprise process management roles.
- 10+ years leading people and cross-functional initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Technology, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Strong background working within or alongside retail, consumer goods, or multi-channel organizations, with a solid understanding of how enterprise operations connect—from product creation to customer experience.
- PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification
- Proven experience designing and running enterprise or corporate operating models in complex, matrixed organizations.
- Strong strategic planning, governance, and prioritization expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional alignment and influence at the executive level.
- Experience in change management, organizational design, and performance measurement.
- Experience leading enterprise-level operations or transformation initiatives that integrate multiple business units or functions.
- Proven success in designing governance models, decision frameworks, or enterprise planning cadences that improved clarity and execution.
- Background in strategy execution or enterprise portfolio management that connects vision to outcomes.
- Track record of identifying and implementing process improvements that delivered measurable efficiency and cost savings.
- Exceptional communication and facilitation skills—able to synthesize complex information into actionable clarity.
- Experience working within purpose-driven or values-led organizations preferred.

Pay Range
220,000 - 275,000
