About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a well-established engineering and building services group headquartered in Sydney. The organization operates across multiple service lines and employs over 120+ professionals, delivering complex projects in commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors.
This is a strategic leadership role for a finance executive who thrives in dynamic, project-driven environments and understands the nuances of engineering, building services, or construction industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Strategy & Leadership:
- Drive financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting aligned with business objectives.
- Provide strategic insights to support executive decision-making and growth initiatives.
- Governance & Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to Australian accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee risk management, internal controls, and audit processes.
- Operational Finance:
- Optimize cash flow, working capital, and cost structures.
- Implement best practices in project-based financial management and contract accounting.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with operational leaders to ensure project profitability and cost control.
- Present financial performance to the Board and key stakeholders.
Requirements/Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline; CPA or CA preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive finance leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior finance role.
- Proven background in engineering, building services, or construction firms with 200+ employees. (Must have)
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to manage complex, multi-project environments.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
