Role Purpose
Build, own, and lead a newly formed India-based billing team that supports multiple US-based brands and customer segments, with a mandate to create a scalable, well-governed operating model.
This is a foundational leadership role. Success is defined not just by managing work, but by designing how work gets done, standing up a high-performing team, and creating clarity, consistency, and accountability as the organization scales.
This role is well suited for a leader who naturally looks to simplify complexity, replace manual effort with clear process, and build systems that allow teams to operate effectively without constant intervention.
Core Responsibilities
- Team Build & Ownership
- Stand up a new Mumbai-based billing team, including hiring, onboarding, and performance management
- Define roles, coverage, and operating rhythms
- Create a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Operational Leadership
- Own day-to-day billing operations across multiple brands, regions, and customer segments
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and scalability as volumes grow
- Lead transitions of work and expansion of scope as the operating model evolves
- Process & Scale
- Design standardized, repeatable billing processes from the ground up
- Reduce reliance on informal or person-dependent workflows
- Partner on future process automation and system enhancements
- KPI-Driven Management
- Define and manage KPIs (accuracy, throughput, aging, SLAs)
- Use metrics as feedback loops to improve systems and performance
- Establish clear visibility into operational health and risk
- Cross-Border Partnership
- Serve as a trusted operational partner to US-based finance and billing leaders
- Communicate clearly across time zones and seniority levels
- Escalate issues early with thoughtful recommendations and tradeoffs
Profile Requirements
- 6–8+ years of experience in billing, AR, revenue operations, or finance operations
- 2+ years of people management experience, including hiring and team development
- Demonstrated experience working with US or Western-based companies
- Strong operational mindset with a track record of process improvement
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Comfortable operating in a KPI-driven environment
Preferred
- Experience in SaaS, subscription, media, or multi-brand businesses
- Experience building or scaling teams in dynamic environments
- Exposure to billing platforms, ERP, or CRM systems (specific systems not required)
