Chief Financial Officer Hybrid £210,000 plus bonus plus equity
We have stated the location as being flexible, this is because daily onsite attendance is not required. However candidates should not that at least 3-4 days a month will be expected on site and as required for orderly management. If you are London based then this might easily mean a commute of six hours each way, so please don’t apply if this is not achievable.
My client is an established Agritech business who are about to bring to market a world class product. I cant describe how amazing this product is as it will be a game changer in the sector globally.
The ideal candidate would have CFO experience with an Agritech and also be very experienced with Patents and an awareness of Franchising as it introduces its products to overseas markets
The CFO will balance traditional financial control with strategic innovation, often managing capital, and working capital optimization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy & Capital Raising
- Fundraising: Lead equity, debt, and blended financing rounds (Series B+) and manage relationships with institutional investors, venture capital, and banks.
- Capital Allocation: Oversee the allocation of capital for R&D, infrastructure development, and expansion.
- IPO Readiness: For rapidly scaling startups, manage financial readiness for public listing, including disclosures and governance.
2. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Modelling & Forecasting: Develop long-term financial models that account for seasonality, long revenue realization cycles, and market volatility.
- Budgeting: Own the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and rolling forecasts.
- KPI Tracking: Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure farm efficiency, technology ROI, and profitability.
3. Operational Finance & Control
- Cash Management: Optimize working capital cycles (inventory, receivables, payables) and maintain tight control over cash burn.
- Reporting & Compliance: Ensure accurate, timely P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting, complying with relevant standards and tax laws (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
- Internal Controls: Establish robust internal financial controls (IFC) and audit readiness.
4. Leadership & Business Partnering
- Strategic Advisory: Act as a partner to the CEO, contributing to commercial decisions, pricing strategies, and margin improvements.
- Team Development: Build and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Management: Engage with the Board, investors, and strategic partners.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years at the C-suite or VP level.
- Sector Knowledge: Proven experience in agritech, agribusiness, or related manufacturing/tech sectors.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of financial modelling, fundraising, and working capital strategies.
- Qualifications: ACA
- Competencies: Strategic thinking, high-growth mindset, ability to navigate ambiguity, and strong communication skills.
