About Our Client Our client is a private equity-backed, asset-heavy business based in Melbourne. They are seeking an Interim Chief Financial Officer to build and lead the finance function, for a period of about 6 months.
The Role This is a hands-on, founding CFO opportunity. The mandate is to design the finance function including controls, reporting, treasury, tax, procurement, payroll, and financial systems. As well as the people, processes and systems which underpins this. The role requires someone who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, making sound decisions quickly while the business continues to run around them.
Key Responsibilities: - Design the finance function including controls, reporting, treasury, tax, procurement, payroll, and financial systems.
- Own the financial modelling underpinning the commercial framework.
- Provide financial oversight of a significant, multi-year, multi-site capital program, including funding governance and construction cost management.
- Deliver accurate, timely reporting to the board, audit and risk committees, shareholders, and customer.
- Recruit, build, and lead the finance team concurrently with standing up the function.
What You'll Bring
To be considered for this role, you will bring:
- Experience as a CFO in an infrastructure, asset-heavy, or industrial environment.
- The ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced conditions where structure is still being built.
- A track record across strategy, business planning, and risk and compliance.
- Comfort with board-level engagement, audit and risk committee reporting, regulatory-style frameworks, and institutional investor reporting.
- Experience in complex, operationally demanding environments.
- A hands-on approach and the ability to build and run a function simultaneously.
- Experience with private equity assets will be highly regarded.
This is an interim position based in Melbourne CBD, to start immediately. To be eligible, you must be available immediately or on short notice and have full Australian work rights, without restrictions for the duration of the contract.
