Archdiocesan Services provides essential corporate services to the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane, supporting and collaborating with parishes, central agencies (Brisbane Catholic Education and Centacare) and the Archdiocesan Development Fund.
The Opportunity
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides strategic and operational leadership across all financial management functions within Archdiocesan Services. Reporting to the Executive Director, the is a key senior leadership role and is responsible for delivery of strong financial stewardship that aligns with the pastoral mission of the Church.
Partnering closely with the Archbishop, fellow Executives and governance bodies, you must set the financial strategy, deliver insightful reporting and analysis and oversee budgeting, risk management and statutory compliance. You will lead your team to provide timely and considered financial advice, that assists in informed strategic and operational decision-making and contributes to the long-term sustainability of the Archdiocese.
Lead and develop the finance team to become a high-performing, value adding function through enhancing the accounting operations, financial controls, procurement and audit relationships. You must strengthen core financial processes and systems while cultivating trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
About You
As a values-aligned finance leader, you will be comfortable operating hands-on when required, while also contributing at a strategic and advisory level.
To be successful in this role you will possess the following:
- Bachelor degree in Business, Commerce (or related).
- Professional Accounting qualification (CA preferred).
- 10+ years’ senior financial management in a large, complex organisation (not-for-profit experience highly regarded).
- Proven experience leading high performing teams, managing change and improving financial operations and systems.
- Advanced knowledge of best practice financial governance, procurement and internal controls.
- Capability to build trusted relationships and collaborate with senior leaders in a complex stakeholder environment.
