About the role:
The Executive General Manager, Corporate Services / Chief Financial Officer is a critical enterprise leadership role and a key member of the Executive Leadership Team. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the role provides strategic financial leadership and whole-of-enterprise stewardship across finance, legal, procurement, audit, risk.
This position is responsible for ensuring the long-term financial sustainability, resilience and integrity of RSL Queensland while enabling the organisation to continue investing in programs and services that improve the quality of life for veterans and their families.
Leading a multidisciplinary function of approximately 25 people, the role partners closely with the Executive Leadership Team and Board, including the Audit & Risk Committee, providing clear, forward-looking and commercially sound advice to support strategic decision-making.
Beyond traditional CFO responsibilities, this role plays a central role in investment oversight, asset management, revenue diversification and strategic enablement, supporting RSL Queensland through ongoing organisational evolution and future reinvestment cycles.
Specifically, key accountabilities include:
- Lead the development and delivery of RSL Queensland’s financial strategy aligned to organisational priorities, risk appetite and long-term sustainability
- Provide strategic financial advice to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board on performance, investment, risk and future funding considerations
- Oversee all core financial functions including budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, statutory reporting, taxation and treasury
- Provide enterprise leadership for risk management, audit, legal and procurement governance
- Oversee the organisation’s investment portfolio and capital management frameworks
- Strengthen financial modelling, scenario planning and Board-level reporting to support informed decision-making
- Ensure robust internal controls, compliance with ACNC and fundraising requirements, and strong governance discipline
- Provide oversight of key enterprise systems and major system initiatives
- Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing Corporate Services leadership team
- Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators and partners
- Support broader strategic initiatives including revenue diversification, asset optimisation and organisational growth
About You:
You are a senior finance and corporate services leader with maturity, credibility and judgement to operate at Executive and Board level within a complex, values-driven organisation. You bring a strong sense of stewardship and understand the responsibility that comes with leading the financial and governance functions of an organisation with deep community impact and a proud legacy.
You are CA or CPA qualified and have built a career leading financial strategy, governance, risk and commercial decision-making in large, multifaceted organisations. You are comfortable navigating complexity, providing clear and balanced advice, and translating financial and risk information into practical, actionable insight for Executives, Boards and diverse stakeholder groups.
Your leadership style is calm, collaborative and emotionally intelligent. You lead with integrity and humility, build trust quickly, and can influence without ego. You are equally comfortable providing challenge when required and supporting leaders through periods of change, reinvestment and organisational evolution.
Experience within not-for-profit, profit-for-purpose, member-based or highly regulated environments will be highly regarded, as will exposure to investment oversight, asset management or regulated fundraising. Above all, you are motivated by purpose and impact, and you bring a strong alignment to RSL Queensland’s mission, values and commitment to supporting veterans and their families.
