Arcana is a portfolio intelligence platform used by hedge funds and asset managers to analyze performance and risk. We’re rethinking the tools institutional investors rely on—and we’re hiring people who want to drive that transformation.
This role is ideal for candidates with experience in investment banking, private equity, or top-tier management consulting (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, BCG) who want to move from advisory or deal work into building an institutional software business.
This is a founding business operations role, not a traditional finance or strategy position. You’ll work directly with the founders and leadership across product, go-to-market, finance, and operations to help build the internal engine of a category-defining institutional software company.
In this role, you’ll learn how to become an operational machine—building the internal engine that scales a company—while also helping shape both the product and the business from the ground up.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the founders to drive core business operations across product, sales, finance, and client workflows
- Translate institutional investor needs into clear internal priorities, operating processes, and execution plans
- Support go-to-market execution: pricing, packaging, sales enablement, client onboarding, and renewal workflows
- Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and data science to ensure tight feedback loops and execution
- Analyze company-level metrics (revenue, pipeline, usage, retention, unit economics) and surface actionable insights
- Own and improve internal processes for contracts, billing, reporting, and client operations
- Conduct market, competitive, and customer research to inform product strategy and company positioning
- Help shape early hiring, tooling, and operating cadence as Arcana scales
Requirements
- 2–4 years of experience in a high-ownership, high-bar role
- Exceptional analytical and Excel skills; comfortable working with messy, incomplete data to drive decisions
- Strong understanding of institutional finance, investment workflows
- Excellent communication skills with senior stakeholders, including founders, portfolio managers, CIOs, and operators
- Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and moves quickly from idea to execution
- Comfortable wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced, remote startup environment
- Strong judgment, attention to detail, and bias toward ownership
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a top-ranked university in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field
- Bonus points if you completed a double major in a liberal arts discipline and a technical subject (e.g., computer science, engineering, mathematics).
- Minimum GPA of 3.7 (required)
- CFA, FRM, or MBA is a strong plus
- Experience with tools like Bloomberg, FactSet, or data programming languages (Python, R) is a bonus
