Chief Financial Officer | Houston, TX
The CFO will provide strategic guidance in overseeing the financial planning activities for Partners and play a significant role in shaping our financial strategy through modeling and forecasting; offering insights and strategic advice that will help drive growth and profitability for years to come. Each line of business (Corporate and Property Services) has its own internal accounting team which will report to the CFO. The ideal candidate will be experienced in mergers and acquisitions, and asset liability management.
Key Responsibilities
As a member of the executive leadership team and reporting to the COO, the CFO will provide expertise in the following areas including but not limited to:
Financial Management
- Develop, implement, and execute the Company’s financial strategies and policies to support the overall business objectives of a diverse group of operating entities.
- Manage financial operations including working capital/cash flow, capital expenditures, debt levels, taxes, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and general accounting while ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic goals.
- Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and identify areas of improvement or risk.
- Partner with business line leaders to make fiscal and strategic investment decisions.
- Manage capital relationships including debt and equity.
- Provide strategic advisory and guide decision-making through forecasting and predictive modeling at the executive and board levels.
Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with the executive team to develop and refine the company's strategic plans.
- Conduct financial analysis and due diligence for potential mergers and acquisitions, expansions, and investments, including M&A analysis support.
- Analyze current and future business operations and plans to determine the financial viability and risks associated with current and future projects, markets, or ventures.
- Provide financial insights and guidance on long-term growth strategies, capital allocation, and profitability enhancement.
Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, including market risks, regulatory compliance, and operational risks.
- Oversee implementation of internal controls and financial reporting systems to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with laws and regulations and manage potential liabilities.
- Stay updated on industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact the business.
Team Leadership and Development
- Build, lead, and direct the finance and accounting teams, providing regular guidance, mentoring, and performance feedback.
- Foster a collaborative and purposeful culture within the departments.
- Promote continuous learning and development opportunities for the team.
- Collaborate with senior executives to drive cross-functional initiatives and achieve organizational goals.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA required or ability to obtain certification.
- 5+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally within a multi-entity organization.
- Background in public accounting preferred.
- Proven success overseeing the full financial function for a mid-sized organization; serving as the person responsible for current and future fiscal performance, financial reporting, and long-range forecasting.
- Experience leading and developing a team with a hands-on leadership approach.
- Strong understanding of capital markets, with experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
- Demonstrated success in financial forecasting, modeling, and strategic planning.
- Deep knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting standards.
- Proven experience in risk management, compliance, and internal controls.
- Experience implementing or optimizing cloud-based enterprise systems preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial software tools.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact at the executive level and build strong relationships with external stakeholders.
