The Executive Director, Finance and Strategy is the NSW Reconstruction Authority’s (RA) Chief Financial Officer, and a key member of the senior leadership team. This role is responsible for providing strategic financial leadership at a whole of government level, ensuring the effective stewardship of public funds and strong governance over disaster recovery and resilience investment across NSW.
You will lead financial and performance management for the RA, driving organisational efficiency, strengthening systems and reporting, and providing trusted, data driven advice to the CEO, Executive Committee, Advisory Board and Ministers. With a strong focus on reform and transformation, the role oversees complex funding policy and program delivery, including largescale disaster expenditure and cross government initiatives.
In this role, you will:
- Provide strategic leadership over financial planning and budgeting, performance management, financial risk management and governance
- Lead statewide funding policy reform and long-term budget and resource planning aligned to the RA Strategic Framework
- Enable effective financial management and assurance for disaster recovery and mitigation programs, grants and reform initiatives
- Deliver high quality financial, commercial and strategic advice to senior leadership and governance bodies
- Build and maintain strong relationships across NSW Government and with the Commonwealth, including the National Emergency Management Agency
- Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, reporting, and organisational performance
About You
You are an established senior financial leader with a strong track record in complex government or large organisational environments. You bring sound judgement, strategic insight and the confidence to operate at the most senior levels.
We are looking for an executive with
- Extensive experience in senior financial leadership roles such as CFO, ideally within state government
- A strong understanding of NSW Government financial management, budgeting, governance and legislative frameworks
- Demonstrated success leading cross government initiatives and large, complex programs
- In depth knowledge of machinery of government and ministerial decision-making processes
- Exceptional leadership, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or demonstrated equivalent industry/professional experience and membership of Australian Professional Accounting Association with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
