The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly strategic and commercially astute Chief Financial Officer – Logistics to provide financial leadership for a key business division.
This is an expatriate leadership role based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, offering a unique opportunity to operate at the forefront of a dynamic and evolving market.
As a core member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, driving financial performance, enabling strategic decision-making, and ensuring strong governance across a complex, asset-intensive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Partnering
- Serve as a strategic financial advisor to the divisional leadership team
- Drive commercial insights to support growth, pricing, and operational efficiency
- Lead financial evaluation of investments, partnerships, and expansion initiatives
- Support execution of long-term strategic plans
Financial Management & Performance
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning
- Deliver robust financial reporting, dashboards, and performance insights
- Drive KPI tracking and continuous performance improvement
- Promote data-driven decision-making across the business
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to IFRS, regulatory, and corporate governance standards
- Maintain strong internal controls and risk management frameworks
- Lead audit engagements and ensure compliance with statutory requirements
- Safeguard company assets and financial integrity
Capital & Investment Oversight
- Lead capital allocation and investment governance processes
- Evaluate major projects, infrastructure investments, and asset strategies
- Drive working capital optimization and cash flow discipline
Leadership & Transformation
- Build and lead a high-performing finance team
- Strengthen commercial and analytical capabilities across finance
- Drive finance transformation, systems improvement, and automation initiatives
- Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance operational and financial integration
Qualifications
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline
- CPA, CA, CIMA or equivalent professional certification
- MBA or postgraduate qualification (preferred)
Experience
- 12+ years in senior finance leadership roles
- Proven track record in business partnering and commercial finance
- Experience managing large, multi-site or divisional operations
- Strong exposure to capital-intensive industries (logistics, transport, infrastructure, or similar)
