Role Description
The Chief Financial Officer – Sports Travel is a full-time, on-site role based in Melbourne, VIC. This position oversees all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting for the sports travel portfolio. The CFO will prepare and review financial statements, manage compliance with regulatory and tax requirements, and support audit activities.
Day-to-day responsibilities include providing strategic financial guidance to leadership, evaluating business performance, optimizing pricing and margins, and assessing financial risks and opportunities related to travel programs and partnerships. The role also involves leading the finance team, implementing efficient financial processes and systems, and collaborating with operations, sales, and account management to support sustainable growth and strong client relationships.
Qualifications
- Strong finance and financial planning skills, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Proficiency in financial statements and financial reporting, including compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, model scenarios, and support strategic decision-making.
- Proven experience in senior financial leadership roles, preferably within travel, hospitality, sports, or service-based industries.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA, CA, CFA) is highly regarded.
- Extensive experience and knowledge within the Travel Industry
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop finance teams, drive process improvements, and implement financial systems and controls.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with executive leadership and external partners.
- High level of integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to ethical, non-discriminatory, and inclusive business practices.
