The hardest part of a PE-backed software exit isn’t the deal.
It’s whether the business is truly ready for one.
Too many companies reach this stage with strong growth, solid products, and momentum but without the financial leadership needed to turn performance into a premium outcome.
That’s where this role comes in.
We’re partnering with a lower–mid market, PE-backed software business in the South East of England that’s entering the final chapter of its current investment cycle.
The foundations are strong. The finance team is in place. What’s needed now is a CFO who can sharpen the story, elevate decision-making, and help the business cross the line in the best possible shape.
This isn’t about firefighting or rebuilding.
It’s about value creation, clarity, and exit readiness.
Why this role is genuinely exciting
- You’ll shape the exit narrative, not just report the numbers
- Direct partnership with the CEO, Board, and investors
- A business with momentum, your impact is visible and material
- The chance to influence strategy, margins, and performance at a pivotal moment
The role: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

- Strengthen KPIs, cash-flow management, systems, and controls
- Act as a trusted advisor throughout the transaction process
What we’re looking for
- CFO experience in high-growth software or recurring revenue businesses
- Proven experience preparing a business for mid-market exit
- Commercial, data-driven, and confident partnering with operational leaders
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, and reporting experience
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA (or equivalent)
- South East–based and motivated by milestone moments
If this isn’t you but you know a CFO who thrives at exit stage feel free to share or drop me a quiet message.
PS: This is the kind of CFO role where the last 12–18 months define the entire investment story.
