Macdonald & Company is partnering on a confidential search for a Chief Financial Officer to join a privately held real estate investment and operating platform with a significant footprint across multiple markets.
This is a leadership transition opportunity, offering the ability to step into a well-established business and play a key role in shaping the next phase of its financial and operational infrastructure.
The Opportunity
This role sits on the executive leadership team and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The CFO will oversee all aspects of finance and accounting while leading a thoughtful modernization of systems, processes, and reporting capabilities.
The platform is stable, well-capitalized, and operationally sound. The mandate is to enhance, streamline, and position the company for continued long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all core finance and accounting functions including reporting, treasury, AP/AR, and property-level financial operations
- Strengthen internal controls, financial governance, and audit readiness
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and portfolio-level performance analytics
- Partner with executive leadership on capital strategy, financing initiatives, and portfolio optimization
- Implement scalable systems and automation initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce manual processes
- Drive consistency and transparency across financial reporting and cross-functional collaboration
- Lead, develop, and mentor an established accounting and finance team
Qualifications
- Senior financial leadership experience within commercial real estate
- Strong foundation in accounting, reporting, and operational finance
- Experience overseeing large, multi-market real estate portfolios
- Demonstrated ability to improve systems, processes, and reporting infrastructure
- Exposure to capital markets, lender relationships, and investor reporting
- Experience with real estate accounting systems such as Yardi, MRI, or similar platforms preferred
- Leadership style that is collaborative, steady, and execution-focused
